Woody liana reaching 20-25 m in height. The stems are twisted counterclockwise, young branches are covered with whitish pubescence, then become bare.

The leaves are alternate, imparipinnately divided into 7-13 leaflets, each of which is narrowly ovate, with a rounded or slightly wedge-shaped base, 5-8x2-4 cm, initially pubescent on both sides.

Racemose inflorescences appear on the tops of branches or in the axils of leaves of biennial shoots, large, multi-flowered, up to 30 cm long, white pubescent. The flowers are 2-2.5 cm long, fragrant. The corolla is moth-type, blue-violet, occasionally white. The calyx is bell-shaped, five-toothed, white pubescent.

The fruit is a bean, covered with thick velvety pubescence, does not fall off for a long time, 10-15x1.5-2 cm. Seeds, one to three per bean, brown, shiny, about 1.5 cm in diameter.

In nature, it blooms in spring, from April to May, and bears fruit from May to August. The plant vegetates for about 150 days.
